Has Apple lost its touch with new iPad?

Apple device launches are one of the most anticipated and watched globally, with every ounce reported and scrutinised by the media. The latest being the lack of queues for the new iPad 3, or iPad as Apple has confusingly decided to call it. But why is this? Do people no longer “need” or “want” the devices, are people not willing to make the upgrade due to the lack of change in the iPad 3 from the iPad 2? Has the sheen of Steve Jobs rubbed off?

Apple iPad 3 event announced

This week is Mobile World Congress, without a doubt the biggest event in mobile for the whole year, and one of the most notable companies missing from the Fira is Apple. Well as reported just now by The Loop Apple has gone and stolen a couple of the headlines during the show’s second day by announcing an event for the iPad 3 – you gotta love Apple.

Downgrading from the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 3G

Making the decision to pause my career and head out to South America was a difficult but also thrilling one and I have not looked back. I had to make a fair few changes before I left, including selling on some of my prized tech possessions, that I feared may get stolen or sit unused in my parents house while traveling. One of the devices that I decided to leave behind was my iPhone 4, being a huge Apple fan and always having the latest iPhone…this was hard to do.

I’ve been here in Argentina for exactly one month now and my keen mobile eye has been on the look-out for what phones everyone is packing…and of course, what they are doing with them. I knew that the market would be very different to the UK, but it has been very interesting looking at how the operators and phone manufacturers have been marketing to the masses here…and how people react to it.

Sleep Talk App for iPhone

It has come to my attention that I have not blogged for a very long time – sorry about that. I guess it happens sometimes…a mixture of writers block and trying to juggle a long-distance relationship, looking after my dad after a bit of a bad accident (he is fine now :)) and doing a day job.

Anyway, I am back and looking forward to covering some cool tech once again. One thing that i am always interested in are apps and there are some gooduns on the market at the moment. Most recently I have been using the Sleep Talk app on my iPhone – hilarious!

Goodbye iPad … Hello Argentina!

Last month produced a day that was both happy and sad for me; it culminated in the sale of my iPad. Why you may ask … well as noted in a couple of earlier posts my new boyfriend lives in Argentina and the flights are rather expensive…to say the least. I’m off to meet his folks before he moves here in March next year … and I thought it a good idea to say hi – don’t want them thinking I’m an evil English girl stealing their son ;). In order to add some money towards my flights I decided I should sell my iPad, as it is more a luxury item then a real need (apparently).

Antenna gate – the backlash…

After Apple’s spectacular press conference on Friday, it is not only iPhone 4 owners whose backs are now up … it all started with this comment from Jobs:

“This is life in the smartphone world. Phones aren’t perfect. Most every smartphone we tested behaved like this,” Jobs said.

Well, that was interesting to say the least … we’ve seen Jobs finally admit there is a problem with the iPhone 4 antenna design, although he also deflected attention to BlackBerry, Samsung and HTC (poor form) on an industry wide antenna issue. He also offered iPhone 4 owners a free/refunded £25 iPhone 4 bumper … oh and if you are still unhappy you can take your iPhone 4 back for a full refund in the next 30 days.
